    What if the NFL said......

in 2012 we will cut 2 teams from the league. get your stuff together or face not having a team. of course history would have to play in the decision. you couldn't cut the Redskins and keep the Jags. but what if the NFL decided that is what they were going to do????? in a way I'd hate it but in a way it would make the league better

If ya ask me, there are about 6 teams too many now. Let's see, how many teams are in the L.A. area? What about in the state of Florida? New York?

I heard recently that the LA area is planning on building a new stadium if they can get an owner to verbally agree to move their team there after its completion. I think the last rumor was about 6 owners would be willing to verbally commit to the move. Not sure which teams those would be, but you'd have to figure a couple of the Florida teams (tampa and Jacksonville) may be on that list.

I think the NFL will be on strike before long. The players union isn't anywhere near as strong as the MLB and NBA unions are and the NFL is more popular than both those by a longshot. More guaranteed contracts is what they might want.

Yeah you are correct If the cap comes off then I think it would save a lockout/strike.

Re: What if the NFL said......

The league was much more competitive before the addition of Carolina and Jacksonville...and since then we've had the "new" Browns and Houston. That's 4 teams that watered down a competitive league. I think it would be better to lose 4 instead of 2...AND change the playoff set up back to where there are 3 divisions in each conference. Of course, it'll never happen due to money. There'll be an NFL franchise playing out of a city outside the US before that happens.
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....

That might happen sooner than later (a team playing outside the U.S.). Wouldn't surprise me at all if they moved the Buffalo franchise to Toronto.
